Anxiety Relief: Tools For A Calmer Mind

We have all been there - thoughts swirling and obsessing, worrying over everything, feeling overwhelmed and out of control.

You are tired

Have headaches

Maybe even a rapid heartbeat

You are not alone…

Tools for a calmer mind:

This is something I work closely with clients on because anxiety can truly be harmful for our health. BUT this is NOT your fault. Usually we aren’t taught how to deal with our thoughts and feelings. AND typically anxiety is actually a SYMPTOM of something else at play…

Here are a few tools for you the next time this happens:

  1. PAUSE & BREATHE! Inhale for 3 slowly and exhale for 3 slowly at least 3 times

  2. JOURNAL: Write down 3 things you CANNOT control, 3 things you CAN control and 3 things you are doing well

  3. Do something that grounds you:

    1. Walk on grass

    2. Take a bath

    3. Massage

    4. Read

    5. Walk outside

    6. Enjoy life!

  4. Ask yourself, “why am I feeling this way?”

    1. If you do not know the answer, I recommend adding walks to your life. They are very calming and can help us process underlying issues.

    2. There may be something else at play since anxiety is a symptom… For example, you could..

      1. Be hungry - when is the last time you ate?

      2. You could have low nutrients - is your diet full of calming nutrients like zinc, magnesium, and B vitamins

      3. You could have high copper

      4. You could have unresolved trauma

      5. You may need to work on transforming your mindset
